About Us

Thread Lab is a modern fabric and yarn shop in downtown Menomonie, WI, that specializes in quality fabrics and yarns. Owner Lori Krause dreamt of owning a quilt shop, a place where people could come to be inspired and fuel their creativity. However, it wasn't in the cards for her with two young daughters to raise. So, she went back to school at University of Wisconsin - Stout for Family and Consumer Science Education. Fast forward 15 years or so, and she now has two grown daughters who have followed in their mother's footsteps and fell head over heels in love with sewing, quilting, knitting, and all things creative. Thread Lab is a family owned and operated business, lead by Lori, Kelsey and Mackenzie. On any given day you'll find one of us in the shop folding fat quarters, knitting away, or there to help you pick out fabrics for your next project!
